MIT's inconvenient scientist

Here's the kind of information the ``scientific consensus" types don't want you to read. MIT's Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology Richard Lindzen recently complained about the ``shrill alarmism" of Gore's movie ``An Inconvenient Truth." Lindzen acknowledges that global warming is real, and he acknowledges that increased carbon emissions might be causing the warming -- but they also might not.
``We do not understand the natural internal variability of climate change" is one of Lindzen's many heresies, along with such zingers as ``the Arctic was as warm or warmer in 1940," ``the evidence so far suggests that the Greenland ice sheet is actually growing on average," and ``Alpine glaciers have been retreating since the early 19th century, and were advancing for several centuries before that. Since about 1970, many of the glaciers have stopped retreating and some are now advancing again. And, frankly, we don't know why."

Embedded Blogger returns to Alaska !!!

Did Global Warming help destroy homes back in '69 ??
Yes, the Grand master Blogger (G #2) has requested more info on the "Carbon Neutral" State known as ALASKA.
Once again I travel along the Coastal bike trail along Anchorage and stopped by "Earthquake Park"
Just outside of downtown, Earthquake Park commemorates the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake - the most powerful tremor ever recorded in North America. See where huge tracts of land slid into the inlet, destroying 75 homes. Downtown at The Alaska Experience Center a movie presentation of the 1964 earthquake is shown year-round, (ref http://www.anchorage.net/492.cfm
Now this park has of info on a bunch of monuments and pertaining to the 75 homes destroyed. They say that the homes where built on a bluff which was supported by a large clay sediment layer that was deposited by glaciers 15-30 thousand years ago!!!
Now wait a minute, I thought that "Global Warming" was a new thing?!?!?!

Baby Seal Flatulence: Friend or Foe???

Build up your Carbon Offsets with the help of this Pup!!
Alaska Imbedded Blog #2

Now we have evidence that the "Global Warming" threat in Alaska has actually been caused by the extreme flatulence of Baby Seal Pups. Indeed, the Baby Seal has a more concetrated amount of methane in it's anal gas due to the rich nature of the Seal mother's milk, that it consumes during the first year of its life. The question is...So why NOW????
As the environmental "do gooders" have been protesting the centuries old practice of clubbing baby seals, the baby seal population has been increasing at an alarming rate.
Soooo...less Pups being clubed = more pups sucking momma's tit=more baby seal pup farts.
Now as an advocate of the environmental balance equation, this Blog has introduced a way for you, the casual blogee, to GIVE BACK .
You can now play the link of the site below and build up your "Carbon Offsets/ Credits" by playing the "Club the Baby Seal" game. Whack as many pups as you need: driving the old lady out to dinner...whack about four pups....planning a family vacation to Tahiti, well you better get started then!!!
Not only will you feel better about your "Carbon Footprint", but you might get a nice fur coat out of it as well!

100th Post !!! Special Imbedded Blog From Alaska

Alaska is a "Carbon Neutral" State !!!!!

Yes, that's right. This is the 100th post on this Blog and I have the dubious honor to post it from Alaska. Since my arrival I have sensed something special about our 49th state. Indeed it came to me in a moment of clarity as I was bicycling along the coastal trail http://www.anchorage.net/651.cfm, in Anchorage....
...Alaska is our largest state
....Alaska has the most square miles of state parks , thus, the most in "Carbon Credits"
....Alaska has more oil, thus, the largest "Carbon Footprint" potential.
..soooooo it seems to me that it all balances out to TOTAL CARBON NEUTRALITY!!!
If you burn pure Alaskan Crude in your vehicle of choice, don't worry about buying into Al Gore's "Carbon Offsets", it's already been neutralized by the above logical conclusion!!!
NOW, if you choose to burn Middle East Oil, you're in a bit of a deficit, since the desert has no redeeming value to our environment (except for Camel Beauty Pagents)!!

Whales return to the Pacific--Global Warming or Climate Cooling

As previously stated, I have imbedded myself into the heart of the enemy, today I am in San Franciso investigating this errant whale story. Now you might want to believe all of the village idiots (and it does take a village to raise one) and think that Global Warming is the root of all out of the norm happenings with our environment. But as in the case with this whales I have concluded a few things.
1) Today in San Francisco, I Froze my butt off as I walked to breakfast, (Overcast and 52deg) Even the obligitory street corner transvestites on Polk ST had "Stiff Nipples"!!
2) The whales followed the cool water into the bay and eventually the Sacramento River. Cold water due to the "SNOW MELTING" from the Sierra Nevada's.
3) Whales have been traversing this coastline a lot longer than we have had the technology to track them (ie, liberals in rubber boats).
4) With all of the talk of carbon footprints, I dare say that more carbon was burned following these stupid whales than all of the whale poop combined in the North Pacific. In fact, i'm willing to bet that more damage was done to the environment by these "do Gooders" than Al Gore's monthly utility bill.
5) And to top it off, when one of the countless, homeless bums sleeping in the "Streets of San Francisco" asked for a handout.... I had to tell 'em.." Sorry dude, I gave all of my Carbon Credits to the "Follow the Whales" fund!!!

A Coast Guard boat patrols the water in the San Francisco bay, Wednesday. Two lost whales last spotted near the Golden Gate Bridge may have slipped back into the Pacific Ocean after a two-week sojourn that took them 90 miles inland up the Sacramento River, scientists said Wednesday.
By John Ritter, USA TODAY
SAN FRANCISCO — Rescuers have lost the two lost whales.
Search boats and helicopters scoured San Francisco Bay and open ocean outside it on Wednesday but saw no sign of the mother humpback and her calf. The pair had been spotted less than 10 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge late Tuesday near Tiburon, Calif.
The whales might have slipped beneath the bridge under cover of darkness and returned to familiar waters of the Pacific Ocean after milling around in an inland river delta for more than two weeks.

Amsterdam airport's new 'X-ray' security scan reveals all

Posted: 16 May 2007 1121 hrs

An image on a security scan at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam's Schiphol airport Tuesday introduced a new security scan that sees through clothes, the first airport in the world to use the system, officials said.

The scan outlines body contours, making it easy for security personnel to see if anyone is carrying weapons or smuggling money or drugs.

Airport authorities said the scan was quicker and better than body searches.

To ensure privacy, the images from the scan are analysed by a security attendant in a separate room. The face of the person is also blurred to avoid recognition.

Schiphol put two such scanning machines into operation Tuesday and another 15 are set to follow. For the present, passengers can choose between the body scan or regular controls, which sometimes include being frisked. - AFP/ra

Asian rice emits greenhouse gas

I thought the Kyoto Treat gave "Carbon Credits" to all of the Third World Countries, due to their lack of Pollutants . Then they would turn around and sell them to US (as in U.S.).
And to think that the Kyoto Treaty was born in the midst of the most flagrant use of carbon !!!
