Mile high club?

What's all this about a "mile high club"?

From the moment they boarded the plane, Trevor Blake and Nicola Fitzgerald had one thing on their mind.

They drank a few glasses of wine to calm their nerves and then disappeared into a lavatory cubicle together as flight BA2263 made its way across the Atlantic to Jamaica.

After a few minutes they returned to their seats, red-faced and giggling, with their fellow passengers apparently none the wiser."

Mile high couple admit jet fracas | the Daily Mail:

I can see a great money making opportunity for the airlines. Sell time, space and videos of the club! Won't be any more bankruptcies, then!

I guess this is a slightly different meaning of "air sex".

Help us stop global warming

Rather than continue to encourage the endless debate, we heroes here at 2GH2 blog have decided to action. Starting now this blog is going carbon neutral. That's right, you can help save the planet by clicking onto us, we are posted on carbon-neutral Web servers, our bloggers are themselves certified organic and we are pretty sure that our pixels are biodegradable.

We are attempting to register to go further in the fight by actually selling carbon offsets so fighters like Mrs. Clinton can continue to criss-cross the country in up to 3 different corporate jets a day. Our carbon offsets will also help in the fight against cow farts, but this may end up removing Rosie's roughage.

NYC Traffic

It's hard to believe that over 20 minutes is wasted by Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) because of a traffic jam in the sky. You would think that on a 5 hour flight that they would know that you were coming. Beautiful weather and a head wind should not cause this problem.
BUT, a little birdie told me that these folks controlling us have no concept of true airspeed and it's relationship with indicated airspeed and altitude. (ie. A jet at 30,000ft flying, 250 knots is actually flying faster across the ground (no wind) than a jet flying the same speed at 24,000ft).
No wonder things get bottled up when planes descend into a busy airport.
That is our gov't in action...

Airplanes we spent a lot of money on and aren't very good

At airshows now you can see some of the airplanes that used to be classified. They remind you of this prior classification with signs like this one. "Deadly Force Authorized", but really, we just want you to buy our coffee cups and tee shirts for our beer fund.

Anyway, that sign was around the F-22 at the show I went to. The F-22 is America's new Air Superiority fighter with a world wide mission to project US power. And really, if you are a bad guy you do not want to be in the air with F-22s around. You will never see what kilt you.

But, earlier this year in the F-22's first overseas deployment, the group of 6 of the USAF's most advanced fighters had to turn back to Hawaii while they were over the Pacific. 10 points to anyone who can tell me why they had to turn back. If I get some good answers I might post some more of the problems with the world's most advanced fighter.
