Friends of Chelsea Tumbleston, 21, and Brent Tyler, 21, found dead on a Columbia street early Wednesday morning after an apparent four-story fall, have found a place to grieve: On the two's Facebook Web pages.
Facebook and other social networking sites such as MySpace serve as an immediate way to connect with friends and share sadness. Groups were set up just after the April 16 shootings at Virginia Tech; Facebook also has a group set up to mourn the deaths of nine firefighters in Charleston on Monday.
Tumbleston's Facebook profile is filled with heartfelt condolences and dedications. One feature of the site is that virtual friends can post comments to a friend's "wall." One message from Krystal Shrider reads: "I love you Chelsea. You'll forever be in our hearts, we all miss you SOOO much! It's not gonne be the same, but you're legacy will live on!!!!! You now have wings, and will be watching over us all!"
Tumbleston's profile gives insight into the life of the young woman. A fan of all types of music, she also enjoyed cooking out with her roommates, sunbathing and meeting cute boys.
Tyler, who worked with Tumbleston at Wild Wing Cafe in the Vista, became virtual friends with her on June 5. Laurie McGranahan posted to his wall a little after midnight Thursday "Everyone misses you. you have been thought about every second of today...you will always be missed and thought about."
A former USC Beaufort student, Tyler was interested in working out and surfing, no surprise since he listed his hometown as Hilton Head.
Autopsies were scheduled Thursday for the two, who died after falling about 50 feet from the roof of a downtown office building. Police on Wednesday said their deaths were an apparent accident. Clothing was found on the roof. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said the couple were students at the University of South Carolina, but on Thursday a school spokesman said they were not currently enrolled.
Tumbleston attended the Columbia campus in 2005-06 and Tyler attended the Beaufort campus during the same period, university spokesman Russ McKinney said.
The couple were found in the road by a cabdriver about 5 a.m. Wednesday. They were pronounced dead at Palmetto Richland Hospital, police said.

Here is another great quote:
"I love you Chelsea. You'll forever be in our hearts, we all miss you SOOO much! It's not gonne be the same, but you're legacy will live on!!!!! "
G #2, What "Legacy" is she leaving???
I'm seriously getting worried about our youth of today..
You know what is coming next don't you...
THE LAWSUIT>>>>
check the latest I posted about her mom
"Naked off of a building" is pretty much her legacy, whether her facebook friends like it or not
I agree, there's something "Tumbleston" I mean "troublesome" about this story. I know family and friends are grieving, but I bet they are concerned that toxicology findings will show illegal drugs and/or higher than the legal limit of alcohol.
You people disgust me on here..how could you mock someones last name who just died at the age of 21. I hope that bites you in the ass one day.
please respect your fellow commentators
no hatin' on the antiQueen
i respect everyone but when someone makes a very very disrespectful comment about a dear freind of mine that just passed away, no respect can be shown.
Unfortunately for all, this young lady did not respect herself either!
